The Jersey Branch of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) has announced plans to introduce the ICSA Jersey Awards in 2012, to celebrate the professional achievements of its members.
Following the successful creation in 2011 of the first-ever Graduation Ceremony for ICSA Graduates to be held in Jersey, the ICSA Jersey Council has announced the introduction of the ICSA Jersey Awards, the results for which will be announced at their Annual Gala Dinner & Graduation Ceremony in March 2012.
The Awards, comprising ‘The ICSA Jersey Company Secretary of the Year Award’; ‘The ICSA Jersey Administrator of the Year Award’; and ‘The One to Watch’, will be judged by a panel of professionals, including Lindsay Walton of RBC; Louise Dods, Rawlinson & Hunter; David Rees, Co-operative Society; Mason Birbeck, Bedell Group; Tim Cartwright, Hawksford; and Tania Angell, ICSA Jersey Chairman.
The ICSA Jersey Awards are open to all ICSA members working for private, public and not-for-profit organisations, and the Judges will accept nominations for both individuals and teams.
The mission of the ICSA Jersey Branch is to promote the professionalism and development of its members through on-going study and qualifications; the newly introduced Awards will complement this activity and include the celebration of those who may have qualified in the past, but who may not have been actively studying in 2011.
The Awards will be officially launched at a Drinks Reception being sponsored by BPP Professional Education at the Totem Private Members Club on Tuesday, 10th January 2012 at 5pm for 5.30pm.
ICSA members and non-members are welcome to attend. To attend the Launch, simply register at www.icsajersey.org.je/events.php - there is no charge to attend the Launch Drinks Reception, but guests do need to register.
Ends.

Note to Editors:
Chartered Secretaries are high-ranking professionals with a broad base of skills. Trained in corporate law, finance, accounting, strategy, governance, and company secretary-ship, they are professionally qualified individuals to whom the Board of Directors turn for advice on a range of business issues.
The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) is the international qualifying and Membership body for the Chartered Secretary profession and a leading authority on governance and compliance. ICSA qualifications have the additional benefit of being globally recognised, giving ICSA members the opportunity to travel and work overseas, and so providing a passport to a superb career.
The profession of Chartered Secretary attracts a wide variety of people. Many of the local members work in the finance industry, as accountants or lawyers. Others work for local companies listed on the CISX and some have served in the police force. Many people join ICSA as new graduates looking for a diverse and rewarding career; often they may be working in entry-level roles in corporate governance and want to take their career to the next step; most want to fast-track their route to the boardroom.
