WellBeing At Work

WellBeing World, the organisation which was established earlier this year to promote the Island’s wellbeing capability and to facilitate the provision of physical and emotional wellness to people in need, has created a package of services specifically aimed at the workplace.

Launched at the Jersey International Business School (JIBS) Leadership Forum at the Hotel de France on 22nd November, WellBeing At Work, seeks to bring the services of the WellBeing World community to Jersey organisations.

Founder and Principal of WellBeing World, Beverley Le Cuirot commented: “Research shows that as many as 13.5 million working days are lost in Britain each year through work related stress; more than the total number of days lost through strikes at the peak of industrial unrest in the 1970s.

“In Jersey, 18,000 days were lost to illness in 2010; of these more than 40% were stress related, and if each case can lead to as many as 30 days away from work, that’s a lot of lost time.” Mrs Le Cuirot added.

WellBeing World represents more than 50 wellbeing service providers, primarily local businesses, and it aims now to support employers with their efforts to contain costs, maintain customer service, retain talent and manage absence, through the provision of wellbeing services.

The list of services is steadily increasing and includes:
* Executive coaching and life counselling
* Healthy work and home environments
* Sport and fitness training
* Nutrition
* Complementary therapies and healing
* Health and beauty
* Wellness spas and speciality travel

WellBeing World

WellBeing World has been established in Jersey to promote the Island’s wellbeing capability; it offers business and marketing support to the providers of wellbeing services, and aims to facilitate the provision of physical and emotional wellness to people in need.

Created by Beverley Le Cuirot, Chief Executive of Immediate Impact and Chairman of Young Enterprise Jersey, WellBeing World is promoting wellbeing throughout the community; in the workplace; and aims to promote Jersey as a location for wellbeing; in so doing, creating a platform for specialist in-bound tourism.

The new movement is fast gaining momentum and has already attracted a wide range of businesses including a number of hotels; speciality travel agency Travelmaker by Design; sports clubs, including Wheatlands Golf Course and Jersey Swimming Club; fitness club BodyRox and Bootcamp Jersey; Yoga instructors including a number of styles; nutrition experts; organic foods, health and beauty practitioners; complementary therapies and healing; life counselling, as well as books, crystals, gemstone jewellery and other specialist retailers.

Eco-friendly architects and other businesses have also signed up, including De Gruchy’s Funeral Services, for family care and pre-paid funeral planning.

‘This is a ‘whole of life’ concept, applicable to people of all ages across a range of circumstances, and wholly determined by the individual as to what brings them happiness, health, peace of mind and prosperity,” said WellBeing World director, Beverley Le Cuirot. “This varies person to person and may be defined by exhilaration, inspiration, relaxation, or simply calm and peace of mind. It also changes as our priorities change and is truly up to the individual to decide what is applicable to them at their particular stage of life.”
